Liz Reif writes about her 2 1/2 year old son... "He misses you! He 'talks' about you everyday. When we drive to my husband's office he says 'Bye Betty' when we cross over your street. Thursday when we were taking him to school and passed by the turn to your house, he said, 'go Betty's'. Then Dad said, 'no, Ben, we're going to school today!' and he said, 'no. I not. It's closed.' "
Ellen C. Pannell, R.A. "I couldn't have done it without Betty. I have four children and she has been our nanny for the last 8 years. My children love going to Aunt Betty's house."
Laura Hutton"Betty is wonderful. She is caring, sensitive, and extremely reliable. She fosters a lovely relationship between children and their environment. Our daughter loved walking a letter to the mail box and watching bull-dozers, cranes, and other big trucks in the neighborhood."
Kate Kern Mundie on Facebook“Saturday morning about 10:30 Declan got his shoes and bag and climbed into his stroller ready to come to your house. He was really cranky with Jim when Jim did not hop to and bring him over. And then when we went to the park later he wanted to walk to your house after instead of turning towards our house.”
Ro Logrippo, author of "In My Room" and "In My World", two award-winning books on creating children's environments that support learning in an engaging way: "How fortunate I was to discover Miss Betty’s services years ago when I was managing KidSpace, the first online children's forum sponsored by The Microsoft Network -- msn. At the time, I needed quality childcare professionals on my team to help guide young people and their parents through various message boards and chatrooms devoted to issues affecting children. Miss Betty quickly became my lead assistant by exceeding all others in the sensitivity she showed to everyone, especially the young. During the past 10+ years I have known her, Miss Betty continually has impressed me -- not only with her devotion to the needs of the young, but also with her keen ability to channel youthful energy into positive activity that promotes learning."
Jeff Green writes"Betty took care of our daughter when she was 1-2 years old. We could not have been happier with the care she received. Beyond having the magic touch for handling our sometimes challenging toddler, Betty was a wonderful influence on her development and provided that personal touch that really makes a world of difference. If we had stayed in Center City, we surely would have continued to work with Betty beyond the year or so that we did, but feel fortunate to have had the chance to know this amazing caregiver."
Jenny H.-E. writes about her daughter:
Aunt Betty cared for our daughter 4 days a week from when she was 3 months old until she was 2.5 years old. Starting a child in daycare at such a young age can be a difficult and nerve-wracking transition, but for us it went very smoothly and I never had a moment of stress or doubt, thanks to Aunt Betty. She cared for and loved our daughter like she was her own. Many of my friends who have infants in daycare settings struggle to ensure that they develop/maintain healthy napping habits, but Aunt Betty always kept Olive on the same schedule as we did at home and gave her a quiet, undisturbed place to rest. We also loved that Aunt Betty's kids learned from everyday experiences. They took many walks together, ran errands, & played at the park daily (weather permitting), and talked about everything they did along the way, stopping to notice interesting events in the neighborhood if the kids saw something exciting (like a construction site). I loved that our daughter was benefiting from the same individualized, "real-world" experiences that she would have had if she were at home with us. Aunt Betty really does provide a "home away from home", and even though it's been almost a year since my daughter moved on to preschool, she still lights up when she hears she gets to spend an afternoon with Aunt Betty!
