My Philosophy:
For the most part I follow the R.I.E. childcare method. (Resources for Infant Educarers) For an explanation of this philosophy read the book: Your self-confident Baby by Megda Gerber or go to www.janetlansbury.com- Elevating Childcare I believe young children should spend as much time playing as possible and have many experiences in their community going into shops and local businesses, watching people at work (construction workers, trash collection, mail carrier, etc.) Home based care is about real life concrete experiences. Children can’t be completely protected from adversity and must be taught how to handle it. I spend a lot of time talking with the children about their feelings, what makes them happy or sad, and then providing them with positive ways to deal with negative feelings. It is my firm belief handling one’s emotions is the key to all other learning in life; social and academic. If one feels empowered and positive about one’s abilities then challenges become less frustrating. Please respect the bond I form with your child; as a strong bond with a caregiver is important for proper emotional growth in young children. I know I am not the mother, but do my best to provide a loving and safe environment while you are away. For those of you who live in a walkable neighborhood I enjoy taking the children for walks and into the local stores for short errands.
